For each of us, life holds a tantalizing blend of joy and grief, triumph and loss.  However, at some time, someone we all know must face the tragedy of a personal loss.  It may be the trauma of marital separation, grief over the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the stress associated with the daily tasks of living.  Any of these circumstances has the potential to tax our strongest resources and cause us to question our deepest thoughts.

Sadly, many people try to deal with these difficult times all by themselves.  They feel they have no other alternative, no one to whom they can turn.  They struggle with the burden alone and at times the emotional weight can be overwhelming.

We need not be alone.  When we share our joys we increase them; when we share our sorrows we diminish them through understanding and learning to deal with them in healthy ways.  And from the natural sorrow that each of us is bound to face, there is much we can learn.

The Winokuer Center for Counseling and Healing is an organization that offers education, counseling, and support services to help individuals, couples, and families deal effectively with life's issues, and in doing so, realize a new richness and fullness to living.

Counseling

Individual Counseling - The Winokuer Center works with individuals-adults and adolescents, in a one-on-one counseling relationships in order to help improve the quality of their life and enhance personal growth.  We help clarify situations, explore options, and create plans to help you take charge of your life.  The following are some of the issues addressed by the Winokuer Center:

  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Relationships
  • Grief and Bereavement
  • Separation and Divorce

Couples Counseling - Often times, couples struggle with issues that are a normal part of all relationships.  The issues may range from poor communication skills to sexual dysfunction.  We can help couples examine these issues and learn the skills necessary to enhance the quality of the relationship.

Grief and Bereavement Counseling - The death of a loved one or a traumatic loss can be one of the most difficult events an individual, couple or family might experience.  Understanding that the grief process is normal, and that no one needs to grieve alone is one of the most important messages a person can learn.  As a Certified Grief Therapist, Dr. Winokuer has helped thousands of people work through their grief and continue their life in a positive way.
